Subject: Project Synchronicity for a more
efficient India
Dr. Mungekar & Mr.
Chaini
I write you you with utmost regard as I watch the
Sahyadri TV Channel and ongoing discussion on the problems Maharashtra faces,
possible solutions and the role of the planning commission, central & state
Government. I recollect meeting Dr. Mungekar at
MEDC on July 7th, 2004.
We have today reached a stage where everyone
knows what needs to be done but unfortunately wants it all to be done by someone
else - possibly a messiah. As India globalizes, at the least
internationalizes, and we wish to raise
our efficiency standards to gain from opportunities - at a country level, state
level or more micro firm and entity level, each stakeholder class seems to be
working out of tandem with others. As Mr. Chaini stated synchronicity is the need of the hour and
it may be worthwhile considering a reorientation of the planning commission to
run `Project Synchronicity'. This would be in essence, an effort in inclusive
planning for greater stakeholder receptivity and involvement and therefore
resulting in superior synchronicity for greater
effectiveness.
The possible steps
forward:
- Rely on existing research & studies to
define the problems
- Interact, over a period of time with various
segments of society countrywide (Business Associations & Industry, Govt.,
consumers/common man, educational institutions, NGO's, etc.), to gain their perspective,
suggestions and proposed involvement in the improvement process
- Develop strategies from the learning's as may be
found acceptable from (2) above
- Pursuant to this, develop a `wealth creation
model' for India which defines objectives, each segments role and
fulfillment targets.
- Monitor the progress using well developed IT
platforms suited for the purpose.
In
continuation of
our stand
(circa 2002) on the absence of a wealth
creation model for globalizing India - I had the pleasure of hearing
and meeting Mr. Gurcharan Das on August 28th 2005, at the Stanford ATI in Mumbai and read his
article in the Times of India the next day where Mr. Das
commented on
the National Employment Guarantee Act. We have interacted on mail thereafter
drawing reference to quotations from Singapore Ex-PM Lee Kuan Yew and a role
prescription for the newly organized Planning Commission in India. 06-Sep-05 |

The links in blue will lead you to the articles which
collectively make a case for the conduct of `Project
Synchronicity' and find a reoriented role of the planning commission
most suited to orchestrate the same. We do believe that people cannot be
compelled to do things they may not wish to but may be inspired to by a vision
of the merits of doing so.
